On Sunday October 22nd, 2023, a memorial to honor those firefighters who passed away over the year. We thank Capital Funeral Home and Cemetery for presenting this monument to our hero's who have gone before us in recognizing their names on the memorial stone.

The late Platoon Chief of the Ottawa Fire Department John Carriere
Platoon Chief John Carriere was influential on the Ottawa Fire Department. John was one of the founding members of the Bytown Fire Brigade. On July 13 2018 John passed away with family by his side. Retired Ottawa Fire Fighter Bernie Matheson started with the Ottawa Fire Department in 1958. Bernie and his wife Myrna are influential in keeping the Ottawa Fire Department's history alive in stories and pictures in a book that he co wrote on the History of the Ottawa Fire Department, 150 years.
