DEATH NOTICE: Allan Shusterman, brother of ROFFA member Lorne Shusterman and uncle of active OFS members Zak and Ben Shusterman passed away at age 74

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allan David Shusterman, who died in Ottawa on May 21, 2026, at the age of 74.

Born in Toronto, Allan was the beloved son of the late Saul and Helen Shusterman and a graduate of the University of Toronto. He spent his career in the public service, working for the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, and took great pride in his work.

Allan is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shelley; his daughters, Hana and Julia (Yossi); his cherished grandchildren, Morgan, Samantha, Emma, and Leon; his sister, Barbara (Mark); his brother, Lorne (Laurie); and his nieces and nephews.

A proud Zaida, Allan enjoyed playing cards with friends and had a lifelong passion for learning, building, and creating — whether through gardening, home renovations, or cultivating lasting friendships. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Temple Israel Brotherhood and the Professional Institute of the Public Service.

In recent years, Allan relied on the support of others, yet he remained deeply caring toward those around him and was always ready to share a good joke.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue, Ottawa. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Jewish Memorial Gardens, 6549 Herberts Corners Road, Greely.

Shiva will be observed at 1025 Richmond Road, Unit 2901, Ottawa, Monday through Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm with services at 7:30pm each evening.
