Anton Reitsma

December 23, 1940 – February 4, 2026

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Anton Reitsma, who passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, on February 4, 2026 at the age of 85.

Anton was the beloved husband of Faye Reitsma (née Carr), devoted father of Chad Reitsma (Kristy-Anne) and Tyler Reitsma (Katelyn), and cherished grandfather of Dakota, Zoey, Dafne, and Saoirse. He is survived by his dear brothers Dick Reitsma (the late Isobel) and Eddie Reitsma (the late Marion), and his dear brothers-and sisters- in-law June Toner, Bonnie Laventure (the late David), Lynn Briscoe (Doug), and Doug Carr (Faye). Anton will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Hank Reitsma (the late Anne), John Reitsma (the late Blanche), Bert Reitsma (the late Pat), and Garrit Reitsma (Connie), and by his sister Akke Te Winkel (the late Albert). Born in Texal, Holland, to his late parents Durk and Hendryke (née Dykstra) Reitsma.

A master cabinet maker, Anton was employed in the woodworking shop of the Governor General, where he maintained the distinguished woodwork within the official residences and buildings. He served his community with distinction as a volunteer firefighter for fifty years. He was also an active member of the Softball Umpire Association and contributed significantly to Silver Stick hockey. Anton and his beloved wife Faye shared a lifelong passion for travel. Together they explored the Eastern Seaboard, journeyed extensively across Canada, visited Western Canada, and toured Europe, often while cruising.

Anton’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street, Arnprior. Visitation will be held on Friday February 13, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The service will take place in the Boyce Chapel at 11:30 a.m. followed by a reception in the Boyce Reception Centre.
