William Henry Descoteaux

Peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Bill Descoteaux, beloved husband of the late Joan Descoteaux for 67 years. Loving father of Bill Jr. (Suzanne), Ann Smith (Mitch), Paula Levesque (Robert) and the late Brian (late Scott). Special Grandpa to Michelle, Melanie, Alex, Bailey, Kiera, the late Ryan and six great grandchildren. Dear son of the late Joseph and Clara Descoteaux. Dear brother of Bob Descoteaux (Joyce). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad met mom in Halifax, while he was serving in the Airforce, and for fifteen years was stationed across Canada, growing his family. He was very athletic and was a recreation specialist with the Airforce before he changed occupations to become an insurance agent for thirty-one years and became the number one agent with the Co-Operators during that time. He was an avid camper, and the family has many fond memories of camping trips to Espanola and Halifax to visit with family. In his retirement they had an RV in Pictou, which was their summer cottage for many years. Like Joan, Bill was a man of strong faith, which helped him in raising his family and to be an outstanding father.  Bill was a kind, caring, and loving man with an infectious smile for which he will be fondly remembered. He maintained that smile right up until the moment of his passing.

Friends and family may gather at the Kelly Funeral Home, Kanata Chapel, 580 Eagleson Road on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 11:30am until time of memorial service at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 44 Rothesay Drive, Kanata at 1pm.

Special thanks to all of the caregivers from his residence, Chartwell Kanata Empress, the Palliative Care Team Queensway Carleton Hospital.Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
