David John MacCormack

April 23rd, 1936 - June 1st, 2026

Retired April 30, 1996

Deceased: June 01, 2026

 

 


David John MacCormack, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully June 1st 2026 at the age of 90.


Born in Ottawa in 1936, Dave spent his younger years exploring the rivers and lakes of the Ottawa area, developing the fishing skills he would use for the rest of his life. He would regularly bring home fresh fish for his parents, William and May MacCormack, helping to support the family budget.


He joined the Ottawa Fire Services in 1955 and devoted the rest of his working years to the service. Through dedication and hard work, he advanced through the ranks, obtaining an Executive Officer position before retiring in 1996. He loved recounting stories from his years in the department to his family and friends.


Besides fishing, Dave was a skilled carpenter, woodworker, board game player, and champion bridge player. He loved sharing stories of his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with anyone that would listen.


In his later years, Dave found happiness and companionship with his wife Wendy Dahms and became part of her close-knit family.


Dave was predeceased by his first wife Sharon “Skippy” MacCormack, and grandson Cory May.


He is survived by his children Sharon (Danny May), Tracey and David; grandchildren Jason, Kenny, Ashley, Jake and Maya; great-grandchildren Caiden, Wesley, Cooper, Maisey, Kinsley and Kenneth Jr.


He is also survived by his wife Wendy Dahms and her family.

Dave will be remembered for his dedication and years of service to his community and the stories and laughter he shared with those around him"

 

The family are inviting active and retired OFS members to attend the gravesite funeral, and if desired, in uniform though not required. on June 24th at 12pm, Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road.
