It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Casimir Daszczynski on May 27, 2026.

John was the kind of person who could walk into any room and start a conversation like he had known you forever. He was outgoing, full of energy, and had a way of making ordinary moments feel memorable. If you spent time with John, you knew you were going to laugh, hear a story or two, and probably leave with one more friend than you came in with.

He dedicated his career to being a firefighter in the Ottawa region and was proud of the work he did and the community he served. But above everything else in his life, John loved being a father.

His sons, Andrew and Christopher, were his greatest pride. Known as “Johnny Two-Kids,” he never missed a chance to talk about them. It was clear to everyone who knew him that his sons were his world. Whether he was cheering from the stands, helping as a team trainer or coaching, John made sure he was there. Not just in the big moments, but in all the small ones too. That's who he was.

John will also be remembered for his generosity, his willingness to help others, and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His dry sense of humour, unmistakable personality, and gift for making people feel welcome left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. John leaves behind countless memories for his family, friends, and colleagues who were a part of his life.

The world will feel quieter without his energy, his laughter, and the way he always stood by the people who mattered to him most.

Firefighter. Father. Friend.

A celebration of life will be held on November 28, 2026, at the “ Micheal Jenkins Hall” ( formerly OFD old # 10 fire station), 260 Sunnyside ave. from 1-4pm.
