It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family of Charlie announce his unexpected passing, after a brief illness, on February 21, 2022, at the age of 73.
Meaning so much to so many, Charlie was the cherished husband and soulmate of Darlene (nee Halliday); loving father of Tracy (Derek) & Robin (Bryan); treasured grandfather of Keegan, Nathan, Xander & Nash; dear brother of Jane (Bruce), Judi (late Eino), David (Louise); adored uncle and friend.
Charlie was predeceased by his devoted parents, Ches and Jean (nee Rushton).
Charlie had a sense of humour, a love for life, an interest in others and a passion for racing. He proudly served on the Ottawa Fire Department for 33 years. Charlie was always happiest at home, surrounded by family, taking care of his gardens, tinkering with cars and caring for his fur-babies.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held in his garden at a later date.
If you are so moved, you may make a donation to The Canadian Cancer Society (https://cancer.ca) in his memory.
Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kurtz and the wonderful and caring team at the Ottawa General Hospital.
***The OFFCF flag at the Ottawa Firefighters Memorial Site will be flown at half mast for the next 3 days in honour of Charlie.
