Press Release: Help Santa Toy Parade & Orleans Parade of Lights

The Ottawa Professional Firefighters Association (IAFF Local 162) would like to announce that the Help Santa Toy Parade and the Orleans Parade of Lights events in their usual annual form are canceled for 2021. In their place, a combined alternate event called the “Help Santa Toy Parade of Lights” is being planned and is currently in the process of acquiring permits from the City of Ottawa. We hope to hold the event in early December with date to be confirmed. In addition, we would like to announce that donations in the form of new unwrapped toys will be accepted at all fire stations. We would prefer to receive the toy(s) in a clear plastic bag. It should be noted that rural fire stations are not staffed and will only be able to take donations on training nights. See below for schedules. Due to the inability to collect money with our usual boot drives on the parade routes, we have set up an easy-to-use online donation page found at http://www.toyparade.ca. The Help Santa Toy Parade is in its 52nd year of operation and the Orleans Parade of Lights is in its 24th year of operation. Together they bring joy to the community during the holiday season each year while also supporting Toy Mountain. Toy Mountain provides toys to families annually to ensure that all children can open a gift on Christmas morning. It is our hope to raise as much money and toys as in previous years despite not having our traditional events. With the help of the community at large, we believe this possible. —- Fire Station locations can be found here: https://ottawa.ca/en/health-and-public-safety/ottawa-fire-services/about-ottawa-fire- services#fire-station-locations Rural Fire Station Training Nights: Stations 61, 62, 81 82 83, 71, 72, 73 Mondays 7:00pm - 9:00pm Stations 63, 64, 66, 84, 91, 92, 93, 94 Wednesdays 7:00pm - 9:00pm
