In Loving Memory

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Richard John Lacelle on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the age of 86.


Beloved husband and best friend of Mary Lacelle for 61 wonderful years. Loving father of Kim Lacelle (Albert), the late Julie (Glen), Philip (Jennifer), and Shawn (the late Natalie). Cherished Poppa of Melissa (James), Matthew (Lauren), Jennifer (Andrew), Erin (Charlie), Camren, Maddie, Cole, and Bryden. Proud Great-Poppa to Alena, Greyson, Kielyn, Koen, Daisy, and William.


Richard was predeceased by his dear daughter, Julie , as well as by his brothers Yvon (Lise) and Jean. He is survived by his sister Sonia (Jack McDiarmid). He will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends whose lives he touched with his kindness, warmth, and quiet strength.


The family extends their deepest gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate team at Forest Hill in Kanata, where Richard received exceptional care in his final months. Thank you for the dignity, respect, and sense of community you offered Richard and our family. Our heartfelt thanks also go to the staff on the NACU at the Ottawa Civic Hospital for their attentive and supportive care during his final days.


A very special thank you to Debbie Chow, Richard’s companion and friend. Your devoted care, unwavering presence, gift of music and gentle spirit brought comfort and joy to Richard. You made a difference, and we will always be grateful.


Family and friends are invited to join us for a Memorial Visitation on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and again from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Capital Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa.


A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leonard Parish, 5332 Long Island Road, Manotick.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be deeply appreciated.Forever loved.
