Lynda Jeanne Tyler (Née Thompson Wood)
1954-2026
With profound love, we announce the passing of Lynda Jeanne Tyler, beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend. Lynda passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at the Arnprior Hospital after a brief but courageous illness, surrounded by love, family, and friendship.
Lynda was the devoted spouse of Rick Tyler of Arnprior, formerly of Fenelon Falls, Ontario. She was a deeply loving mother/mother-in-law to Cheryl Hunt (Kate), Jennifer Atmore (Martin), Dana-Lynn McLaughlin (Phillip), and Shaun Hunt. Her greatest joy was being Nana to Isabella, Charlee-Mae, Danika, and Nolan, and she delighted in every moment spent creating memories with them—and with her cherished grand-puppies, the whippets.
Lynda will be dearly missed by her siblings Jo-Anne, Carol, Susan, Dianne, Billy and Steven, and was predeceased by her brother Robert. She will be lovingly remembered by their spouses and extended families. She also leaves behind lifelong friends who were family in every sense of the word, including Ruth and Dale Bolton, Connie and Roger Tedford, Jack and Jane and their families. Her loss will be felt for many years to come by Charlie and Karen of Peterborough, Scott and Heather of Arnprior, and the Goddard families, whose lives were deeply enriched by her presence.
Lynda had a remarkable gift for making others feel remembered and celebrated. She showered love year-round through birthdays, holidays, and her famous “Happy Tuesdays.” Her support of her daughters was unshakable, whether she was cheering from the sidelines at curling, figure skating, or baseball games, or staying up late crafting Halloween costumes and creating traditions that will live on for generations.Lynda had a successful 40-year career with Bank of Montreal in Peterborough and Bobcaygeon. Her official role was a financial advisor, but her coworkers and clients saw her as family, someone who truly cared about them and gave them the time and respect they needed to leave her office feeling a little bit happier and completely supported.
She was a proud and dedicated member of the Arnprior Legion, where she formed close, unbreakable friendships through volunteering and giving back to her community. Some of her happiest moments were spent playing cards to music at the Arnprior Legion, bowling in a league at the Arnprior Steels and Strikes, and attending weekly art classes under the instruction of Kevin Dodds.
Anyone who knew Lynda knows she was fiercely patriotic and deeply proud of her country, Canada, making that love well known during her travels abroad. She was a master in the kitchen and celebrated Christmas like no other, creating warmth, magic, and lasting memories for all who gathered around her table.
Lynda is now reunited with those she missed so dearly: her parents Robert Thompson and Florence Street; Gordon and Dana-Lynn Goddard, her brother Robert Thompson, and her mother-in-law Margaret Tyler.
Though her illness was brief, Lynda fought with extraordinary strength and grace, pushing through pain and fear simply to spend one more day with those she loved. Morning coffee with Rick, visits filled with stories and laughter, shared meals, flowers, quilts, artwork from her grandchildren, and Christmas decorations brought peace and comfort during her final days. There was not a single day she was without visitors—an undeniable testament to how deeply she was loved.
Lynda Jeanne Tyler will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, strength, patriotism, and unwavering love. Her legacy lives on in her family, her friendships, and the countless lives she touched.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nursing and hospital staff who cared for Lynda with such dignity, kindness, and respect during her final days. A special and deeply sincere thank you is extended to Dr. McCarthy, whose exceptional care, comfort, and support brought peace not only to Lynda, but to her family as well. Your dedication and humanity will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life honoring Lynda’s beautiful spirit will be held at a later date. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share stories, and remember Lynda in a way that reflects how she lived—surrounded by love, laughter, music, and meaningful connection. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arnprior Legion, in honor of Lynda’s compassion for helping her community and the incredible people who brought purpose and joy to her life.
